About

What native planting design includes

Native plant landscaping starts with the conditions that control plant health. We review soil, slope, drainage, sun, access, and how you want to use the space. The plan can include plant beds, lawn changes, garden structure, paths, patios, retaining walls, water features, and lighting. We select a planting layout that fits the property's style and connects with planned construction. Plant choice alone won't solve a wet bed or compacted soil. Our recommendations may include soil improvement, grading, drainage work, or a different bed location before installation. The main buyer decision is whether the planting plan should stand alone or support a larger outdoor project. A design-to-build approach helps us coordinate those pieces before construction begins.

What Native Plant Landscaping Covers

Native plant landscaping is a planting design service that places regionally suitable plants within a planned outdoor space.

  • Native plant landscaping differs from basic bed installation because the plan connects plant selection with soil, slope, drainage, and site use.
  • The service requires a property review before planting so the design matches the site's physical conditions.

What to prepare before native planting design

A few clear details help us understand the property and shape a useful first discussion.

  • Photos of existing beds, lawn, trees, walls, and drainage areas.
  • A list of plants you like, dislike, or want to keep.
  • Notes about sun, shade, standing water, and hard-to-maintain areas.
  • Your goals for paths, patios, outdoor rooms, privacy, or garden views.
  • Any known soil, slope, access, or construction concerns.

How we plan native planting areas

1

Inspect the planting site

We review soil, slope, drainage, sun, access, and nearby structures. These findings show which planting areas need design changes or site work.

2

Build the planting layout

We place plant groups, bed lines, paths, and related features around the property's use and style. The plan also considers how the space will be viewed from the home.

3

Set the project scope

We present planting, material, construction, and planning details before work begins. You can then request a quote for the agreed scope.

4

Coordinate installation

Our design-to-build process connects planting with soil work, hardscape, drainage, lighting, and construction where the project includes those elements.

Adam and his team did an amazing job designing our garden in NorthBend! He was very knowledgeable and helpful in finding the right plants to thrive in our particular environment. His team was courteous, friendly, and considerate. From the beginning we didn’t know exactly what we wanted, but Adam helped us find the perfect plants to complement the space. We are very happy with the results and his expertise. Thank you again, Adam!

We recently had Adam help us with two big yard projects. For our primary home we had a goal of making our property lower maintenance so Adam designed a beautiful plan to bring in character with large rocks and appropriate ground cover and plants to replace all of the grass that we took out in the front yard and he and his team replaced our backyard grass with beautiful artificial turf that looks like perfectly cut grass. We are thrilled with the results and can’t say enough about how great Adam was to work with. He was very organized, had great communication and check ins and did exactly what he said he would do, and his team of workers were so respectful of property and easy to work with. After such a great experience we had him also help re design and improve our Suncadia yard to make it fit in more with the mountain landscape. All Projects were finished ahead of deadlines for some key entertaining events we had planned!

Adam has done landscaping jobs on our property, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. We managed to turn our backyard into a mini park, and the expense was more than reasonable. We also changed our high maintenance front yard into a low maintenance clean look that doesn’t demand weekly attention. When you get to the time of picking plants, Adam will meet you at the nursery and he’ll give you excellent advice as to what plants are best suited for your layout and expected results, and your plants are guaranteed for one year, so if some don’t take, he’ll replace them with new ones. Both jobs added value and usability to our place, and now we’re able to enjoy our yard year round

Questions about native planting design

Who provides native plant landscaping for homes and properties in Issaquah?

LandscaperIssaquahwa.com provides native plant landscaping for homeowners and property managers in Issaquah and nearby Eastside communities. We review the property before shaping a planting plan. Our work can include garden design, soil planning, drainage coordination, and related outdoor construction. The final scope follows the site's conditions, your goals, and the features you want to keep or add.

What changes the quote for a native planting project?

The quote depends on site preparation, planting area, soil work, drainage needs, plant selection, access, and related construction. A small bed with ready soil has a different scope from a full yard redesign. We inspect the property, define the planned work, and explain the project details before you request or review a quote.

Can native planting replace part of an existing lawn?

Yes, native planting can replace selected lawn areas when the new layout suits the property's use and site conditions. The plan must account for bed edges, paths, soil, sun, drainage, and maintenance access. We help define which turf areas should change and how the new beds connect with the rest of the yard.

How does native planting differ from ordinary garden installation?

Native planting links plant choice to site conditions, long-term layout, and the property's wider design. Basic installation may focus on placing plants in prepared beds. Our planning also considers soil, slope, water movement, views, paths, hardscape, and lighting. That broader review helps decide whether the site needs changes before planting begins.

What should I send before requesting a native planting quote?

Photos, property goals, plant preferences, and notes about soil or drainage give us a useful starting point. Include views of the whole yard and close views of problem beds. A simple sketch can show paths, patios, walls, trees, and areas you want to keep. We use those details to discuss the right scope for an inspection and quote.

Does the service include drainage and hardscape planning?

Yes, the planting plan can coordinate with drainage, hardscape, lighting, paths, patios, retaining walls, and water features. Native plants cannot correct every grade or water problem by themselves. We identify where related site work belongs, then connect those decisions to the planting layout and wider construction plan.

How do I choose between a planting plan and a full yard redesign?

Choose a planting plan when the main need is bed layout and plant selection. Choose a wider redesign when planting must connect with patios, walkways, walls, drainage, lighting, or other construction. We can review the whole property and define the smallest useful scope that still supports your goals and site conditions.

When Customers Call Us About Native Plant Landscaping

1

Repeated Plant Loss in One Bed

Plants keep failing in one area, even after replacement. The cause may sit below the planting, such as compacted soil, poor drainage, or a mismatch between exposure and plant choice. We inspect the bed and its surrounding grade before suggesting new plants. Bring photos from different seasons so we can compare symptoms with site conditions.

2

New Garden Around Outdoor Living

A new patio or walkway needs planting that feels connected to the home. Bed edges, views, access, lighting, and drainage all affect the plan, so plant selection comes after the layout takes shape. We can review your construction ideas and prepare a planting direction that fits the wider outdoor project.

3

Too Much Lawn to Maintain

A large lawn area may no longer suit how your household uses the property. Native planting can replace selected turf areas, but the design still needs safe paths, clear bed lines, and suitable soil. Mark the areas you use most, note places that stay wet or dry, and discuss a phased plan with us.
